According to the almighty Webster, a Larrikin is a hoodlum. In hash-ology, it means much more than that!
The Carolina Larrikins H3 is a Friday night "pick-up" style hash, a style started by the Sydney South Harbour H3 in Australia in 1979. "Pick-up" means that there is no designated hare. Hashers draw straws at the beginning to see who will start laying trail. Whoever chases down that hare will then take over the trail. The starting hare is given a 5-minute head (!!!) start, and one minute will be deducted with each subsequent hare. Most will be A to A and will involve about an hour of some sort of running, jogging, or perhaps sprinting for your life if you are a hare!
If you like to drink, then the CLH3 is for you. We are drinkers first, and runners second!
If you are afraid of getting caught, then piss off you wanker! That is the idea of this hash, you moron! So get caught and drink lots of beer and have tons of fun with some of your best friends!
Down downs are the heart and soul of the Larrikin hash. The pack will convene for about an hour to sing bawdy songs and imbibe sweet nectar (mmmm, beer!!!). A variety of beers and snacks (yes, cheesy poofs!) will be provided, and perhaps a keg. Hash cash will always be \$5.00.
